About Mica Huang
Interdisciplinary Contemporary Artist, Curator, Writer, and Art Therapy Practitioner
Mica Huang’s practice spans painting, video, ceramics, performance, and socially engaged art. She received a First-Class Honours BA in Fine Art from Kingston University, London, UK, in 2024. She is currently a fully funded MFA student in Multidisciplinary Art and enrolled in the Graduate Certificate in the College Teaching of Art at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA), USA, supported by both full and internal scholarships.
Huang’s artistic research and practice revolve around deeply narrative personal experiences, self-perception, and psychoanalytic themes. She views the role of the artist as a connective and penetrating force, using art to explore individual and social psychological structures, fostering potential for healing and dialogue. For her, art is not confined to a single medium but is a fluid mode of expression. She continually switches between painting, video, ceramics, writing, and performance to find the most precise form of articulation.
In recent years, Huang’s practice has expanded into curatorial work, public education, expressive writing, and art therapy, including collaborations with children and neurodiverse communities. By integrating artistic creation with therapeutic and educational interventions, she has developed her own methodology in art therapy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and cultural production.
Her works have been exhibited in Hangzhou and Shanghai (China), London (UK), and Maryland (USA), and are included in institutional and private collections.
